Welcome to the St. Julian’s Safeguarding Information Form. Please read the following details and complete the form below. Once we receive your form, we will get you started in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas (EDOT) Safeguarding training process. This process has four steps:
1. Interview: When we receive the form, the Safeguarding Records Administrator (SRA) will create or locate your profile in the EDOT system. The SRA will likely call you with a few interview questions.
2. Online Videos: After this interview, you will be emailed a link to start the self-paced portion of the training. These are online videos from Praesidium Academy which are somewhat specific to the work you'll be doing at St. Julian's (like volunteering with children and youth, serving on the Bishop's Committee, or visiting seniors in care facilities).
3. Application: You will also be emailed a link to an online application that asks for four references. For each, you will provide their name, relationship to you, email address, and phone number. The form is sent to them electronically so be sure the email address is correct or your application cannot move forward. The application includes consent for a background check.
4. Register for and attend a Universal Training class: Once you finish the application steps, you will need to sign up for a real-time training class (in-person or virtual) offered at churches in the area or directly from the diocese.
The Safeguarding Records Administrator will monitor your application, review background checks, monitor completion of online videos, review responses from your references, and generally manage your Safeguarding process. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact your SRA: Jennifer Cowles, jcowles@stjuliansaustin.org.
